It is said that there are six degrees of separation amongst us…

But how is a local Chef de Cuisine from one of Victoria’s best restaurants connected with a mother who is attending school, who daily juggles her finances to pay her school fees and feed her family?

How does she get to dine on these exquisite meals?

One local service club, Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore (SIVW) has bypassed a few of those degrees of separation with their fundraiser gala, Flavour of Chocolate, Small Plates & Chef Competition. Five local chefs compete for Best Chef, serving guests their inspired savoury small plate creations, including chocolate or cocoa products. A sixth chef presents a decadent chocolate dessert.

Proceeds of the event support educational awards for women, and other programs created by SIVW. The current year’s recipients are guests of the event and enjoy the creations of the chefs. The evening’s highlight comes when the six recipients are recognized and presented with their award.

It’s a grand night out for the recipients and all guests. To purchase tickets to Flavour of Chocolate, Saturday May 26th at Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney, go to SIVW.ca/FOC. And to learn more about Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore, go to SIVW.ca and learn more about the club.
